Southern Maine Hoops League
The Southern Maine Hoops League is designed to be a fun and competitive league for town and school teams. Run out of Saco and Portland Maine, the league is offered to boys and girls, grades 4-8 and runs from late November to through mid-February. As part of our commitment to providing a well organized league, a full time league director will handle all aspects of the season including scheduling games, securing referees and scheduling practice time in our gyms, if needed. Teams will compete throughout the winter for a chance to raise the Russell Packet Trophy at the conclusion of the season.

All division champions will receive a Russell Packett Championship trophy. The late Russell Packett founded the Cape League which has since blossomed into the Southern Maine Hoops League. In his honor, the league is proud to announce that we will continue Packett’s tradition of presenting a championship trophy to all winnings teams. It seems only fitting that this man, who was instrumental in both creating and directing the league for many years, will be memorialized in this manner.
